1660. Vernier Microscope "RAC"
A Sturdy special instrument designed for a wide variety of uses in the laboratories.
The Bed is a heavy box casting well seasoned and carries the machined dovetailed guideways. The carriage carrying
microscope is machined true and carefully interground on the guideways to give an oily smooth movement along the entire range, free from any lateral shift. The Bed can be used horizontally or vertically.
The Scale fitted to the bed along the carriage, is machine divided on lifetime stainless steel. Range of division ±.001 %.
A Vernier is sprung fitted to the carriage and gives the least count of .01, .005. .002 or '001 cm as specified while ordering (In the absence of any specific instructions, .001 cm is supplied). The Spring fitting of the vernier permits its fine apposition to the scale.
The Microscope can be adjusted to any horizontal or any vertical position with reference to the scale. Rack and Pinion focusing, provided with 10x Ramsden Eyepiece, cross line reticule with 2" or 3" focusing distance achromatic objective
Cross Motion: Cross motion is provided to determine the young's Modulus by Cornu method. The Cross Motion graduated scale at right angle to the vertical Scale moves in a channel with rack and pinion.

 

1661. Newton's Ring Microscope
This is a compact instrument containing all the necessary arrangements required for conducting the Newton's Ring experiment. A standard Microscope unit having 30x magnification is provided with a rotatable cross line, and the eyepiece can be focused as per individual's requirement. The whole Microscope tube unit can be raised or lowered and clamped at any desired position. The focusing of the Microscope unit is done by rack and pinion arrangement.

The longitudinal movement of the Microscope saddle for the purpose of the Rings is done by rotating the drum provided.
The 26 mm. movement can be read by scale & on the divided drum to 0.001 cm. Newton's Ring set consisting of one optical flat glass and one plano convex lens arranged inside a metal case resting over the stage of the instrument can be adjusted for the alignment of the measuring line. A reflector plate adjustable in the required direction is fitted on to the side of the set. The condenser lens is provided in front of the reflector.

If the Newton's Ring set is removed from the stage. the instrument can be used as a simple measuring Microscope. The whole instrument is supplied in a box.
