Bunsen burner with a stopcock is a type of laboratory gas burner that includes a built-in gas flow control valve (stopcock), which allows precise regulation of the gas entering the burner. This enhances safety and control during heating.
Base: Keeps the burner stable on the lab bench.
Gas Inlet: Connects to a gas supply (e.g. methane or natural gas).
Stopcock (Gas Valve): A small rotating tap that controls the flow of gas into the burner.
Barrel: Vertical metal tube where gas mixes with air before combustion.
Air Hole or Collar: Adjustable opening near the base of the barrel that regulates the amount of air mixing with the gas.
Flame Outlet: Top of the barrel where the flame is produced.
Turn the stopcock to open the gas supply.
Adjust the air hole/collar to mix air with gas, which changes the flame:
Yellow flame (safety flame): Less air, cooler, luminous.
Blue flame (working flame): More air, hotter, non-luminous.
Light the burner with a spark lighter or match.
